The Impact of 3-in-1 Desks in Rural Enugu Public Schools

In Nigeria, more than 70 percent of Primary School Students in Public Schools sit on the floor, or broken blocks, or woven mats to learn because the schools they go to do not have or provide chairs and desks.
These rural children, mostly from very poor families, face severe challenges in concentrating and participating in class. Some of these rural children sit on broken blocks or mats they bring from home. Some of them place notebooks on each other's back to write or copy notes.
Through Nkanu Global Foundation, a $120 gift produces and delivers a three-in-one wooden desk with a bench for three children. The feedback from teachers and headmasters has been overwhelmingly positive. With proper desks, students' posture has improved, and attendance has increased by over 40% in schools we've supported.
